“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” - Ernest Hemingway
In this time period we find God has placed us in, it is imperative we understand that the world, to quote another, Sylvester Stallone as Rocky to his son, “ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it’ll beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.”
When we look at all the adversity we face for calling the dice for what they roll on and hitting back instead of laying down and quitting, these quotes make sense. In times of peace and tranquility when there seems there is no fight to be found, that is when we forget that the enemy is always planning and plotting for its next move.
Another quote, “in a time of peace prepare for war”, then General George Washington was affirming that very premise. It is much better to be prepared for what “could” happen as opposed to be caught unprepared and apathetic.
We have seen in the last better part of a decade in America, the speeding up of the attack on traditional American values such as family, life, church, education, etc. and for the most part the “side” being attacked and pressured has been back on its heals and unprepared. “Head in the sand” for the most part and almost in disbelief.
